Why Hello there...

This is another piece I did as soon as I got the new studio set up.  It started as kind of an exercise to shake the rust off of my brain and hands.  As I kept working, it all just started falling into place.  It developed very organically, I just kept drawing, painting and gluing and out of the blue it was done.  I'm stoked on it and think it helped re-learn my process.  Done on canvas with ink and collage.  11"x14"  Here it is...

Technicolor Beard Face

This painting developed over a long period of time.  The layers kept building and it ended in this.  I started sanding and peeling away some of the OSB, then pasting a couple of things on it.  From there I just did layer after layer of ink/acrylic.  Then some doodling, more layers and some fine tuning.  I'm happy with the result.  Technicolor beard face.  Found wood, ink, acrylic.  14"x27"

FACE MELTER

This is a piece I just finished.  It is a study over time of my frustrations involving my overall disposition as of late.  Everything from my personal life to my thoughts on the current state of affairs in my immediate home life (California) my home land (Wisconsin) and across the globe.  It was done on pieces from a broken down table and chair, with ink, graphite, acrylic and paper.  approximately 18.5"x14" ENJOY!

... in all honesty you gotta see it in person.

Fear of the Mundane

This is a new piece I just finished.  It attempts to capture the realization and fear that in our lifetimes we will not see a significant change in our consumerism and deviation from capitalism.  The face depicted has shown up in my work before (see the 2009-2010 tab, image 23/31 "Deep down we all know there is more").  The interesting thing about that is both works follow a similar theme, but were done years apart.  The repetition of the face image was done unintentionally; I didn't notice the overlap until I completed the piece.  "Fear of the Mundane," was done on an old skate deck using ink, acrylic, and collage elements, with a ribbon for the finishing touch.

Happy Birthday Baby!

This is a piece that I've kept under wraps for a while.  It's something I did as a gift for my girlfriend's birthday.  Puppy head, owl baby body and a picture of us.  She loves owls, french bulldogs and me of course, so I used all of those things to create it.  She named the baby owl puppy Hubert, so that's the title.  Love you baby, happy birthday!  Acrylic, paper and ink on canvas. 24"x30"
